NEW PRODUCTION RELEASE!

It's the project that keeps on giving and grooving!

Today is the release date of yet another cool component of one of my favorite projects/artists I've been involved with.

Pennan Brae "The Astronot: Gravity" is the part 2 album companion to Pennan's award-winning film "The Astronot", and soundtrack by the same name.

"The Astronot" album sounds as if The Rolling Stones Fleetwood Mac and bands of that ilk from the 70's, all got together and grew a gentle young man in a test tube. The new "Gravity" album sounds more like Rock, the London underground club scene, and your 1985 12" collection got drunk together and took Sonny Crockett's Testarossa for a joyride crashing it into a cocaine warehouse somewhere way down on Collins Ave. on South Beach. How's that for a selling point?

My contributions include playing, co-production and co-writing on both releases, and also features an assortment of lovable friends and beasts including:

Album mixes and remixes by "KIRRKKCCHHH" Kirk Kelsey [ The Smashing PumpkinsKeith UrbanRobin Thicke ], single remix by Paul David Hager [ Miley CyrusKaty PerryBeckDevo ], mastering by Sean Magee [ The Beatles ] @ Abbey Road Studios & Emily Lazar [ Foo FightersDavid BowieColdplay ], with drums from Steve Ferrone [ Tom Petty and the HeartbreakersDuran Duran , George HarrisonSlash ], Garry Gary Beers [ INXS ], some additional guitar work from axe beast Mark Scan, and various others.

Get a load of some of the awards the music from "The Astronot" film has won below. Make sure to listen to "Strut [1980's Remix]" for a laugh, and if you can find a white linen suit to put on while you listen, it'll couldn't hurt [a music video for the track is coming soon]! We produced it to sound like it's straight from your 1985 12" extended mixes collection...or my collection anyway, as I carry about 400 12" mixes from the 1980's in my phone. It's an obsession, I know. I'm seeking 12" therapy, mixer Kirky was a DJ in those days and he's helping me with my treatments.

It's available for download and streaming everywhere, but it sounds best here:  http://tiny.cc/AstroGravity

"I.V CATATONIA: 20 YEARS AS A TWO-TIME CANCER SURVIVOR" OUT NOW!

20 years or so ago, armed with only my family and true friends, a borrowed 4-track cassette recorder, bits and pieces of borrowed instruments, a Super 8 camera, things I found in the garage to beat on, no insurance, no money and no ability to work...a series of events as a young graduate student at the University of Miami School of Music happened to hit all at once, screwing up my immune system. Losses, deaths, hostility, jealousy, freeloading apple juice thieves...all exasperated by the consumption of 12 packs of highly caffeinated and sugary drinks, to stay awake for overnight recording sessions. A total carnival for the macabre.

What manifested was a fist sized tumor pushing through my rib cage, teaching myself to play guitar, the creation of the first digitally watermarked CD with the father of the tech Scott Moskowitz, support from Duran Duran's John Taylor, a relapse, a stem cell transplant, and the creation of "I.V Catatonia" [during my first 6 months of chemotherapy]...the 4-track album that launched my career.

It's over 4 hours long, and was actually twice that, but in order to focus on the main bits, I had to cut it way down. My goal is to get this to anyone who is going through what I went through, to provide a distraction...an escape...some hope, and some encouragement to channel the bad into something good.

If you or someone near to you is going through the same thing, PM me, and I'll send you a private free link to listen to/pass on.

If I've tagged you, it's because either you, or your kin are either mentioned, or anonymously referred to in the album dialogue itself.

Now there are people mentioned who aren't tagged below, who are not referred to by name, but only by actions. Some nice footnotes in time, and some who deserved upside down crucifixion. If I describe you as being part of the latter and didn't mention your name...YOU'RE WELCOME.

ME

To keep in best proximity of my creativity, www.instagram.com/esgalexandrakis is really the best place.  I like Instagram, it's great for creative people, and there are a lot of interested open minds on there.  I post all sorts of music clips in the works and out, my travel photos, my films, my graphic art, and the occasional 4 wheeled mechanical beast.

For a more generalized set of updates, www.facebook.com/ericsgalexandrakis is best.  I find Facebook boring as hell, and less engaging than Instagram, so I tend to spend more time on Instagram as I like to look at cars, album art, modern art, and laugh at all of the wedgies.  On Facebook you post your work and get minimal reaction, but the hot girl from high school posts a picture of her dog and gets 200 likes.  That's because FB knows you have multiple pages, and suppresses your exposure to get you to pay for ads.  Same goes for Instagram if you have a business page, so I keep mine as a personal page.  It's all garbage, but unfortunately a necessity in this day and age.  Twitter...it's just beyond me, I couldn't care less really.  FB and Twitter are all politics, people's personal BS, and articles from music mags about music I'll literally never care to listen to.  So Instagram is cool.  Straight and to the point.

I'm not on Spotify, and have minimal bits on YouTube.  I don't believe in giving away free content as is to benefit someone else.  I've written about this a lot as an industry contributor in Recording Magazine.  Previews and altered promo tracks, sure fine, but to stream a new album/song clean on someone else's site so that they can make ad dollars off of you just because...what am I stupid?  Now if I were touring, I'd change my mind as then it basically serves to promote a tour.  Would love to just go out for time on end and play, but currently family has precedence.  The things musicians have to give up to make sure one's kids has parents.  No complaints.  I do like Vimeo though.  A more streamlined presentation.

Love, Me

RECORD STORE DAY RELEASE!

Spring time is coming...which means Record Store Day is coming on April 21st...which means our new SANDRO | JOHN MALKOVICH | ERIC ALEXANDRAKIS release is coming!  Here is the official announcement:

"...the creativity is off the charts..." - Pop Wrapped Magazine

Coming April 21 for Record Store Day on limited edition yellow vinyl only, is another piece to the multimedia puzzle from as Rolling Stone Magazine calls them, "the avant-garde trio":

SANDRO | JOHN MALKOVICH | ERIC ALEXANDRAKIS

“HELL ON EARTH” [STEREO VERSION]

Featuring the photography of world renowned photographer Sandro Miller, the theatrical vocalizations of actor John Malkovich quoting Plato & Aristotle, the cinematic soundscapes of composer Eric Alexandrakis, and containing exclusive art, loads of new sonic layers and new music in a limited yellowvinyl-only release, this new stereo release reaches further into a toxic and destructive world created by the mating of consumerism and media manipulation.

Pompeii stone figures found with mobile phones in their hands.

To reserve your copy, call your participating Record Store Day store demanding justice...and of course the release as well, as once it's gone...it's gone!
